Road Trip Buddy Loves Owl Vans Sprinter Tire Carrier

jim will

There is no better road trip buddy that’s a good hound or two, although you’ll probably agree that Owl’s Sprinter tire carrier is a good buddy when you go into the wild. We, at Owl, love it when customers send photo’s of our Sprinter products installed. We need to add, “Works as a bench” to our features. :-)

Best use of a Sprinter Van tire carrier goes to @devinashburn. This is awesome 😎👏🏻

Even Owl engineers didn’t anticipate our tire carrier being used as a high-dive, it seem to work pretty well nonetheless . Thanks for the photo, wish we were there.

Custom Sprinter Van Crane / Gear Hoist Sytem

john willenborg

Randy reached out to Owl Engineering with an interesting problem. He wanted a crane to help get his 100lbs electric bikes up on his bike rack. We don’t typically take on full custom work but it sounded so fun we couldn’t resist. In about 4 hours we had a fully designed and build crane complete with remote controlled winch. Check out the video below.

Robert Loeffler @tralehead on Instagram gets his rock crawling on with his Sprinter and Owl Tire Carrier. Ever wonder why we talk about departure angle so much and why a low hanging rear bumper is a bad idea.. Check out Robert’s rear step when he was done with this run:

Owl Van Sprinter Gear Carrier in Blue

sherpa blue.JPG

Owl Van’s Sherpa gear carrier anodized in blue with the new sidecar for shovel or high-lift jack. I’m sorry, but that is dead sexy. Owl Van will be bringing out new Sherpa mounting accessories over the next few months. Ski mounts, bike mounts, generator, Rotopax and much more. We think the Sherpa is the best looking and most flexible gear carrier for Revel and Sprinter Vans.

Owl Announnces New Sherpa Gear Carrier at Overland Expo2019

Owl Van Engineering is announcing new gear for Sprinter and Revel at Overland Expo today: The all new configurable Sherpa Gear Carrier. According to CEO, John Willenborg, “Customers of our Spare Tire Carrier kept asking for a gear carrier as well, so we went to work and produced the Sherpa, the most innovative and flexible carrier for Sprinter or Revel Vans.”

With Owl’s Sherpa, you’re only limited by your imagination. Sherpa is easily configurable, allowing you to mount almost anything: generators, cargo boxes, Rotopax, fuel cans, bikes, skis and much, much, more. Better yet, items can be quickly switched, bikes in summer, skis in winter.

Sherpa easily installs to either Sprinter rear doors with five bolts and no drilling. Sherpa is cut from a solid plate of rugged but lightweight aluminum. With over 150 mounting holes, 40 slots and two sides, it’s easy to mount almost anything. Owl will be adding mounting accessories over the next few months. With a ski mount and bike mount due out soon.

Like their popular tire carries, Sherpa opens with the door via a patented articulating sway link system. Nothing to swing out of the way, no bumpers to buy, or holes to drill in the door. Most importantly the door just operates normally.

Come by the Owl Van Engineering Booth (L9) at Overland Expo to see the Sherpa in person or For more information email john@owlvans.com .

After months of development and hundreds of anxious customer emails, we are proud to announce Owl Van’s Sherpa, our new configurable patented Sprinter Van cargo system that allows you to mount almost anything, almost anywhere, on both sides.

  • Made from a laser cut solid sheet of 6061 aluminum, Owl Van’s Sherpa is lightweight but incredibly rugged. Sherpa opens with your door just like Owl’s popular Sprinter Van tire carriers. Nothing to swing out of the way, no bumpers to buy, no poor departure angle.

Sherpa has hundreds of minting holes and slots to fit almost anything: boxes, Maxtrax, Rotopax, jerry cans, generators, shovels, jacks, trash bags, and much more. We will also be releasing our own accessories this summer for mounting bikes and skis. Best yet, you can switch what’s mounted for each season or trip.

Available for ordering here on our website (4-6 week delivery) and orders will be processed on a first come first serve basis. We will do everything in our power to fabricate and ship as quickly as possible. Available in 3 ANODIZED colors (black, blue and bright orange).

Come see the new Sherpa at our booth at Overland Expo next week!
